The Cleveland Opera

The Cleveland Opera Institute

To ensure continuous presence of opera in Cleveland and NE Ohio, The Cleveland Opera has launched its new initiative: The Cleveland Opera Institute. In 2024-2025, the Institute includes 4 members: Nicole Wong, Amanda Fargo, Sam Gross, and Jason Fuh.

The group is committed to igniting and nurturing the love of opera among our audiences and artists by numerous opera presentations, while at the same time enjoying the opportunities to perform. Working with each artist individually on their artistic needs and promotion, The Cleveland Opera designs special services benefitting him or her, while having in mind the final goal: the benefit of local communities in Cleveland and NE Ohio.

The Institute will accept 4-5 singers each season, all of whom will reside in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio, as the purpose of the Institute is to create local forces committed to deeply rooted opera here in our area, to its presence now and in the future.

The Institute defies the transitoriness of operatic efforts in Cleveland. It also defies stereotypes and prejudices, such as ageism. Thus, the Institute is not a typical “young artist program,” but rather a platform for all talented local singers to grow in their art and commitment to opera in our area and to permanently install opera in Cleveland, turning this area into an attractive opera destination.
